The Goal of Cowee Textiles is to teach textile art from the basic fiber to finish products.
You can receive one on one instruction from a teacher that has studied in the U.S. and Europe on a wide range of weaving and spinning styles. Start with band, tablet or inkle weaving and move up to weaving on large floor looms. Class sizes are small and in a nice, quiet, clean fun place to learn.
The school has a large library of reading material to help plan projects from rug hooking, spinning, felting, dyeing, quilting, sewing, inkle, tablet, weaving.
Three looms are setup that new weavers can weave a 24" by 40" rug for $20.00 or a table runner or place mat for .50 per inch. This gives you a chance to give weaving a try and finish a project in about 3 hours.
A number of other looms are available to be used by students.
We love our customers, so feel free to visit when open. Due to odd hours best to call first. The school has other rooms you will enjoy visiting. We have a toy museum, The Mountaineer, Cherokee museum room, Cowee Pottery School, other artists rooms.
We are open at different times based on students needs from day, evening or weekend. Great for students that work.
